Fishing Games and Simulations

Fishing games and simulations are a great alternative when you can not experience outdoor nature in person. The fishing games listed here attempt to render realistic environments and simulate the fishing experience.

Online Fishing Games

Free online fishing games are getting harder to find. There are good fishing games out there, but they are buried in huge catalogs of space games and shooting games. Many of the good free fishing games have been commercialized and now cost money to play.

Pellicer Pond Online Fishing is still free, but the gameplay is not very fun or realistic. You can see some screenshots of the game on this page or play for free at the link below. You have to use the arrow keys and the space bar to work the fishing pole. The environment is photo-real, but all graphics are 2d sprites.

Playstation Fishing Games

The best fishing game out there on any platform is probably Reel Fishing II. Reel Fishing 1 and 3 are good games also, but the second installment is the highest quality experience. This playstation 1 game from 2000 is a true gem and has sold on Amazon for over $70. The realism, customization of lures, beautiful locations, and charming character of the game are unparallelled. One of the memorable features is the rustic log cabin where the player can keep aquariums of fish that have been caught and farmed at different location in the game. There are fly boxes, fishing logs, and fish guides in the cabin also.

Wii Fishing Games

Rapala Pro Bass Fishing is a great 3d fishing simulation with fun gameplay and interesting locations. The customization, mobility, and realism are somewhat sacrificed in that name of fun motion sensor interactions with the fishing rod. The Rapala Pro Fishing has many exotic locations such as the Amazon, Africa, and Mongolia. The expected traditional fishing spots like Florida and Texas lakes are in there too. The environment graphics have decent realism, but the boat driving feels clunky and not realistic. You can't get to places you think you should be able to.

I remember as a kid playing a great classic Nintendo bass fishing game but, but I don't recall the name. I would like to play that again with a rom emulator if I could just remember the name. I know there have to be more. If you have played other good fishing games or simulations please share with the group here. There is a comment form below.
